With banjo on knee and fiddle under chin, Frank Fairfield is so good at his old-time craft that I sort of wish I had discovered him in the stacks of an antique dealer with a backroom full of 78s. I'd have to stop jigging every three minutes to change records, but it would make a great story. So let's pretend that's how it went down.
