MILES OF TRANE REVIEW: YES. This is fine rock music, with flavors of classical, jazz, prog, hip-hop, trip-hop, industrial, you name it – sometimes hints, sometimes jackhammered into your brain – mixed into a sophisticated dance drum beating alt rock album that has been touted by critic Paul Morley as “very 1970, but also quite 1610, 1950, 1979, 1989, 2005 and 2070.” Pitchfork, though raving, probably underrates it at 8.2/10.0. Metacritic gives it's weighted average of 20 or so reviews as 85/100, with user reviews coming in at a more accurate 95. I'm throwing a lot of numbers around here, maybe because language is so weak in describing art of this caliber. Well, numbers are no better, so listen and form your own opinion. This will be album of the year in some books, so do listen.
